Purpose of study This research study was conducted by the University of South Florida’s School of Aging Studies. The purpose of the study was to: find out how older adults manage their pain determine if certain factors serve as barriers to effective cancer pain management
Who participated in the study? • 155 people participated in the study:
medical conditions CANCER TYPE (reported by participants) • Breast (19%) • Hematological (13%) • Lung (11%) • Colon/Rectal (9%) TOP 5 MEDICAL ILLNESSES (reported by participants) • Arthritis • High Blood Pressure • Lung disease • Anemia or other blood disease • Thyroid problems
HEALTH RATINGS • Most participants rated their health as fair (30%), good (29%) or very good (15%).
