Empowering Nigeria: Skills Training for Job Creation

Phelyn Skills Acquisition Center (PSAC) is a non-profit organization in Nigeria dedicated to skill development for employment and economic independence. With a focus on revolutionizing the informal sector, PSAC aims to reduce poverty and create job opportunities, especially for women and youths. The organization addresses the high unemployment rate in Nigeria by providing vocational/entrepreneurship training and empowerment programs. Through strategic planning and focus on digital skills, PSAC endeavors to unlock access to finance, build capacity, and offer lifelong support and mentorship.   2. PSAC?PSAC is a Non profit Organization registered in Nigeria with the mandate to skill up Nigeria. We aim to create employment, reduce poverty and Enhance economic independent among Nigerian women and Youths. PSAC focuses on revolutionizing the informal sector of Nigerian economy through viable vocational/entrepreneurship training and empowerment

  3. The problem Unemployment Rate in Nigeria increased to 23.10 percent in the third quarter of 2018 from 22.70 percent in the second quarter of 2018. Unemployment Rate in Nigeria averaged 12.31 percent from 2006 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 23.10 percent in the third quarter of 2018 and a record low of 5.10 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010.

The Nigerian Skills Prospects – Non-Technical Skills are overemphasized in our Professional education Figure - Distribution of University Output by Discipline Too many Nigerians are pursuing Social Sciences and Arts disciplines. In addition, many Nigerians who study Technical disciplines, do not pursue Technical careers. This is hindering our national ability to Industrialize, and is constraining sectors like Agriculture, Mining, Manufacturing etc

Our trainings are designed to provide a platform to train and educate individuals on skills that can help create wealth, taking into cognizance the broad framework of the UNDP’s Millenium Development Goals (MDG’s) – e.g. eradication of poverty. Participants will be trained to foster better-informed skill acquisition and produce more creative and well-thought-out services that result in better offerings to the consumer. Our skills acquisition and empowerment training is built on an active, experimental and hands on practical learning sessions. We train people on different skills of their choices. The solution

  10. How we are Preparing Skill Acquisition for the DigitalAge? Information and communications technology (ICT) brings both challenges and opportunities to technical and vocational education and training (TVET). Digital technologies have changed how organizations work, creating new jobs and replacing others. For workers, this means reskilling themselves in order to thrive in a high-tech working environment. For educators, this means integrating ICT in skills development, not just in the course materials but also in course delivery. Technology can make it easier to deliver TVET to more people

STRATEGIC PLAN TO : • Create opportunity for youth in the digital sector by providing a pathway for its participants to gain Awareness, Knowledge, Skills and Technical Know-how • Provide career insight and opportunity for youth in the digital space by hosting Mass Digital Literacy Events. • Provide mentoring and opportunities for skill development for youth through 21st century practice. • Promote skill acquisition in different digital focused areas: Web Design & Development, Social Media and Email Marketing, Data Entry and Management, Software programming & development as well as hardware & mobile device repairs. • Assist the nation in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, by creating decent digital jobs for women and young people. • Promote digital inclusion amongst the under-served communities by making skills training available to those who cannot afford it.

  12. Research has shown that every productive age person in Nigeria has at least 3 dependents. Based on this, PSAC will be directly impacting the lives of 60,000people by the year 2021, when successfully trained and empowered 20,000beneficiaries. • Training Center will be fully operational by restoring all necessary building, Tools, Equipment, and other materials and staff; • About 70% of total trainees will be engaged either in starting their own small businesses or get employed. EXPECTED RESULTS

PSAC seeks for your financial and kind support to enable us complete this project which will make lasting impact on the lives of beneficiaries and their dependents. • PSAC will engage all stakeholders relevant to the completion of this project and will rely on 100% support from funding organizations, partnershipsand individual support to make this project a reality. We shall reach all the target beneficiaries through sensitization, reach out and mobilizations.
