S3 Cathkin Curriculum – 32 x 50 Minute periods • 8 Subjects • English x 4 periods • Maths x 4 periods • + 6 others x 3 Periods a week • 2 Skills periods • 4 Core periods – RE, SE and PE x 2 Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect

Units will be removed 2019-2020 • Learners need to pass all Units plus the Course assessment to achieve the qualification. • They are graded A to D or ‘no award’. • The Course assessment involves a question paper (exam) or coursework (assignments, folio,practical activities, one off performance), or both. Exam Diet 2019 • Pupils with an exam will be given study leave for the duration of the diet • Pupils without a timetabled exam will have a tailored curriculum to follow during the exam diet • The new Timetable will begin on the 3rd June 2019 Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Exam Diet 2019 • Pupils will be issued with a personalised exam timetable that they must check to ensure that they are entered for the correct subject at the correct level • The exam seating lists will be displayed in the Street Area and on the school website Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Exam Diet 2019 For each exam the pupil should know • Date • Time • Venue (can vary) • Seat Number • Alternative Assessment Arrangements Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Recognising Positive Achievement (Interim Arrangement for 2019??) • If a pupil is unsuccessful at N5 Level the SQA will automatically enter them at N4 level • If the pupil has achieved all the units at N4 level they will be awarded an N4 Course Award. Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Exceptional Circumstances • If a pupil is unable to complete an element of the course assessment due to an exceptional circumstance then assessment evidence can be sent to SQA • The pupil will receive the outcome of this along with the result of their results on certificate day Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Post Results Service • No more appeals • Clerical Check • Marking Review Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Post Results Service • Faculty Heads issued with results and estimates • Asked to work with teachers to identify significant anomalies (at least 2 bands of a difference) • They will then identify whether they wish for a clerical check or marking review • Head Teacher will have final decision on those that we send to SQA Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Post Results Service • Requests for Post Results from Parents/Carers are not accepted • Post results are not in place to help pupils who are on the borderline of an estimated grade • Parents/Carers cannot pay or request SQA to carryout a post result service Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
Post Results Service • When a candidate is selected we must ask for their permission as the SQA are clear that following the service, grades can go down as well as up. • The school will contact the pupil and their parent/carer if selected. Community Learning Excellence Ambition Respect
