  6. Todays Ideal: Mutual responsibility between HE and Public: „HE has to serve the public that it supports“. HE as a public good.

  7. Public support Will the public be able to sustain support level? Academization of -Society -Professions Financial state of the public

  8. Privatization of HE Not so much privatization on the supplier side, Very much so on the demand side!

  9. Investment HE seen by Students as investment : Students supply their abilities to society (gouverned by employment market)

  10. Expectation Society- return on investment: Political, economical, welfare Private student – return on investment: income

  11. Nature of HE Traditionally: Creating and disseminating knowledge by use of physical space: lecture halls and laboratories. Confusion?: information vs. knowledge

  12. Nature of HE New?: Creating and disseminating knowledge by use of experience and relationships.
