Facts and Figures • Over 7,000 staff with nearly 6,000 operational firefighters • Revenue budget in 2010/2011 £437m budget • Revenue budget in 2012/2013 £409m budget • All day every day service, across the whole of London • Range of other resilience equipment • Play a major role in National Developments

  6. More Facts and Figures • In 2010/11 we received 212,000 calls and attended 122,000 emergencies. This included: • 13,000 serious fires • 5,884 accidental fires in the home • 12% of the fires in the country happen in London • 22% of the false alarm calls in the country are made in London

  7. Fire Safety Regulation • 14,500 fire safety inspections carried out each year • 630 enforcement notices issued this year • 6 fire safety prosecutions carried out in the previous year • We have a team of highly qualified fire safety engineers

Fire Safety Regulation • In recent years our fire safety engineers have been involved in the following high profile new builds: • Wembley Football Stadium • London Heathrow Terminal 5 • White City Shopping Centre (Westfield) • Stratford City Shopping Centre (Westfield) • The Shard • Olympic Park

Community Safety • Home Fire Safety Visits • In 2010/11 our target for HFSVs was 63,000 but we achieved 70,039 • The target for 2011/12 is 66,000 • The target for 2012/13 is 69,000 Youth Engagement Programme • Schools team - 1million school children visited in 10 years • LIFE programme – 500 courses, 5,000 young people since 2002 • Fire Cadets

  10. Highly Effective (2007/08 – 2010/11) • 16% Reduction in fires overall • 10% Reduction in fire deaths • 15% Reduction in all incidents attended • 66% Increase in home fire safety checks • 29% Increase in fire safety audits • 43% Reduction in lift release incidents
