  1. English 10 – 10/7/13 • What are the “Bricks”? What is the “Wall”? Listen to Pink Floyd then write. • Did you hear about the psychic midget that escaped from prison? The police are looking for a small medium at large. • Logomachy – a dispute about words and their meanings Goals – Toulmin model. Internet searches. Credibility of sources - notes. Searching effectively. Homework – Search for an article or video that seems to you to be from a credible source. Print it out. Bring it. Don’t forget to begin study for vocab.6 quiz on Friday.

  2. English 10 – 10/8/13 • What did you find in your article from last night that seemed interesting? What are your thoughts about that as a debate topic? • How many magicians does it take to change a light bulb? • Logogogue – a person who always corrects people on words and their use. Goals – More about Toulmin Model. Learn how to analyze the credibility of articles and select articles that have good claims, grounds, and warrants. Homework – Find and annotate at least one article for your debate. Identify the “grounds within the article.

  3. English 10 – 10/9/13 • What area of education issues most interests you and why? Explain what you think might be right or wrong about our education system. • What do you do with two pieces of bread in the desert? • Lethologica – the temporary inability to recall a word or name. Goals – Check Dailies. Analyze articles for claims. Homework – Find an article about education that contradicts an article that you already have. Print it and bring it to class.

English 10 - 10/10/13 • Write on a topic of your choice. • What did one sheep say to the other when it sneezed? • Idioglossia – the invented speech of children who are closely related, used for private conversation. Goals – Change seating. Analyze articled based upon the types of grounds they use. Homework – Find and print another article based upon different issue in education that might interest you.

English 10 - 10/11/13 • Five minutes to study for Quiz #6. • Why did the twin elephants get kicked off the beach? • Escape words – words used in place of those that might be considered sacrilegious or obscene. E.g. golly, gosh. Goals – Complete Week 6 vocabulary study. Introduce warrants as an evaluation tool. Homework – Find an article that opposes the article you chose for last night.
