  5. Educational Activities – Inquiry/Design Project • Implemented an inventive multi-disciplinary Junior Fellows research experience project • Over 73 high school students participated • 12 research teams lead by Junior Fellows, Mentored by CSU Fellows

  6. Educational Activities – Projects • Junior Fellows and teams were challenged to solve a cross disciplinary problem that mirrored the GK-12 project research

  11. Educational Activities – Outreach • GK-12 students and teachers participated in Annual ISTeC High School Day • Industry sponsored • Workshops • Contests • Education and industry fair • Additional planning and team building for teachers, fellows and students

Educational Activities – Outreach National • CSU GK-12 project selected to present workshop at Annual GK-12 National Conference • Fellows and teachers collaborated to present interdisciplinary Junior Fellow Project • Over 45 fellows and teachers from other GK-12 projects attended • Participants received DVD on how to implement project • Including lessons, timelines, surveys, Junior Fellow application forms, and assessment rubrics

Educational Activities – Outreach International • CSU GK-12 fellows travel to Slovenia and meet with teachers • Teachers from Slovenia begin to use lesson, labs, and projects on CSU GK-12 website • Fellows participate in Skype with Slovenian teachers • Cooperation continuing and ongoing to build teacher-to-teacher bridges

  14. Educational Activities - Industry • Summer workshop and planning weeks that included industry tour to Avago Technologies where teachers and fellows were walked through the microchip fabrication process.

Educational Activities – Future Directions • Build on our continued effort to bring new STEM content into our classrooms • Strengthen teacher-to-teacher connections with Pueblo Central High School teachers • Strengthen teacher-to-teacher connections with Slovenia School teachers • Expand multi-teacher trans-disciplinary inquiry and design projects that; • Engage students in complex inquiry and design problems that require integration of co-dependent knowledge construction and fusion • Teachers using content border-crossings to “connect content dots” • New STEM learning progression • Additional student assessment of newly learned STEM content
