Somme Sentinel Covering events and activities of cadets in YOUR company to spread the news! June 2014 Another successful Somme Company Weekend, this time at Nesscliff Training Camp in Shropshire. The weather stayed good for the whole weekend and all star levels had an enjoyable and productive fieldcraft camp. The weekend started with FOUR promotions! Pictured Sgt Roberts and Staff Sgt McClelland – both pleased with their promotions after years of hard work and commitment to the ACF Recruits had a great time building bashas, staying out and cooking in the field led by SSI Piper – as well as lessons on the recruit syllabus. 12 recruits passed their wing. Lt Ledger and SSI Johnson led the one stars split over two groups. They did a range of one star lessons including a sounds a night demonstration, navigation and learning tactical movement.

During the weekend they practiced their fieldcraft skills and applied their training to a section attack during which lots of blank ammunition was fired. SSI Raynes enjoyed the weekend as much as the cadets with the three star wing! As well as advanced fieldcraft training and living in the field for the weekend, they took part in a very successful night ambush with pyrotechnics and blank ammunition. 3 Star night ambush Weapons cleaning – the worst bit of the weekend!
