Work in pairs to complete the questions. Try to reach an agreement on any question you have different opinions about. Make notes of your answers in the spaces provided.( page 58) 1 What types of clothes are currently in fashion? 2 What do you think the next fashion will be? 3 How important is each of the items when you buying clothes? UNIT 7 Describing Appearance and Clothing Step Three Work in pairs. Listen to the conversation between a couple who are discussing what they should wear to a party they have been invited to. Then practise the conversation by reading it aloud with your partner. Read through the conversation twice, changing roles the second time. Underline where you cannot understand or have problem with.

Well dressed, but not too elegant. • Jacket and tie: Well dressed but not necessarily a suit or evening dress. A jacket and a tie are essential for the man. • Formal dress: A formal suit and tie or even evening suit for a man and an evening gown for a woman. • Black tie: Very formal. An evening gown for the lady and a formal ( black) dinner suit for the man. • Come as you are: casually dressed • Fancy dress: one needs to wear a costume (usually with a theme given by the organizers of the party).
