History - Telephone made  by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876 - Radio presented by Gugleilmo Marconi (1894), made by Nikolai Tesla (1880s) - Radio and telephone combined to make cell phone in 1950s - Used to make a wireless phone that still picks up and sends signals via radio waves - First cell phone made by Martin Cooper (1973/ early 1970s)

  3. How They Work - Signals transmit to base centers - Base centers find phone using phone number - Call goes through satellites and other towers - Phone always transmits some radio signal to base center - Signal goes to base center nearest to you - Center finds phone using phone number

  4. Parts and Functions Circuit board- main part  of the cell phone Antenna: internal & external- connection to the cellular network  inside the casing of a cell phone; sticks out of the phone Microphone and speaker- allow speech and listening  Battery- lifeline  runs out => cell phone can't function Other components- optional i.e. internet connector

  6. Evolution of Cell Phones From the Dyna-Tac by Motorola to the iPhone by Apple, cell phones have changed since their creation in 1973. They've become much more portable and have developed more functions over the years. 

  7. The Future of Cell Phones (Predictions) • People try to make them • But the future will still always surprises us A Holographic phone from the "future". A glass/plastic phone from the "future".

  8. Cell phones required In Most coutries • Back then:  cell phones = a luxury • Now: required but extras i.e. internet connector are a luxury. • Prediction:  in the near future cell phones required with Internet + other extras • The need for technology grows fast
