SOME OF CAUSES OF MAIN COON BREED AGGRESSION 1.Medical complications The first leading cause for Maine Coon aggression is medical complications (e.g. urinary contamination). Maine Coons too, can feel pain and discomfort. These can be hard to spot from just physical appearance but if you pay attention to your Maine Coons closely, you will be able to tell that something is wrong. 2. Territory aggression Territory aggression is really bummer especially when it comes to Maine Coons. It usually begins when they are between one to two years of age. When this happens, your cat can get extremely mad when someone enters their territory. Try to interfere, and you should be prepared to get murmured at. This behavior normally subside in less than a day so you don’t really have to worry about it. 3. Societal pressure Having an excessive number of felines in closeness to one another will prompt societal pressure.
These felines run for the most part on nature and when set in gatherings they automatically establish their own hierarchies. Fights may break out causing stress for the weak ones. 4. They are not neutered If you see your Maine Coon getting aggressive, ask yourself. “Is he neutered?” If they’re not, then it is no strange that they get aggressive. Both Male and Female Maine Coons can get aggressive due to the rise of level of hormone in their body. To solve this problem, neutering is very important. The practice is normally done to prevent unacceptable sexual behavior, prevent accidental breeding, and reduce aggressiveness. Male Maine Coons have to get neutered at early age of sexual maturity. If too late, they may spray their urine all over the house to mark their territory and tell the female cats that they are waiting for an opportunity to mate with them. The same goes for female Maine Coons’ attitude towards male cats. You definitely would not wait for “cat spraying” to happen all over the house because that could get real nasty.
