What is CU? • Current form began in the UK in 2007 • Grew from the concern that exciting learning was being ‘squeezed out’ of the curriculum • Launched at the University of Adelaide in 2013
CU Australia • Currently the program is operating in South Australia, New South Wales, Tasmania and soon to be Darwin. • Key CU Adelaide statistics: 101 participating schools 6,500 CU members 250+ Learning Destinations
What is CU Australia? • Guiding Principles: • For 7-14 year olds • Voluntary • Out of school hours • Linked to HE • Has a ‘wow’ factor • Promotes curiosity and confidence
Passport to Learning • Each child is issued with a Passport to Learning in which the hours of each validated activity are recorded

What is a Learning Destination (LD)? • High quality learning activities and quality assurance process • Restricted and Public • Connects with higher learning outcomes • Examples include: Bunnings Australia, Tennis SA, Adelaide Zoo, South Australian Museum

Staff Information Sheet • The CU Adelaide team will tailor one page information document to assist Library customer service staff which includes: • Overview of CU Adelaide program • Examples of validated activities e.g. Minecraft • Steps to follow when stamping passports
What’s involved? When CU Adelaide members visit the Customer Service Desk for a stamp Step 1: Ask Some Questions • What activity did you do today? – verify that it is a CU Adelaide validated activity • How long was the activity? • What’s the most important thing that you learnt? Step 2: Passport Entry • Complete passport entry (date, duration, activity) and provide Public Library SA stamp/sticker
