Anthony Wayne • A famous Revolutionary War hero • Wayne County is named in his honor, even though he never lived here
The first settlers came by water and settled in what is now Lyons.
The first settlement in Wayne County was in Palmyra in 1789.
drumlin • A hill, running north to south, which was formed by deposits from a glacier
potash • The remains of burnt wood ash, which was used to make soap and fertilizer. • This was one of Wayne County’s first industries.
