Recent thank you notes from patients/families: “When we went the end-of-life route I stayed at the hospital like at a hotel. We felt very embraced by the people at the hospital. There was an incredible feeling of support and of making me, my dad, and my mom comfortable.”
“TCAB empowers nurses to bring positive change that improves the quality of patient care. As a team we identify patient care issues that take us away from the bedside. It works because it involves us, the nurses, the frontline staff to identify the issues and implement these changes for our unit.” -Jennifer Thoennes, BSN, RN, TCAB participant, SICU

“TCAB has helped the SICU nurses bring positive change. One example is improved communication between the SICU and OR nurses. We invited an OR nurse to our TCAB meeting and identified hand-off of patient care issues and collaboratively came up with a plan to improve communication for post-op patients arriving to the SICU. As a result, we have dramatically improved safe patient hand-off of care.” - Annie Tobin, BSN, RN, TCAB participant, SICU

Tomah Memorial Hospital Our Story A respite patient was admit to the med/surg floor. As staff was filling out the restful menu, the patient stated he enjoyed a bed time snack of ice cream or pudding every night. That information was written on the restful menu and was placed where staff can easily view in patients room. Every night staff brought in ice cream or pudding for the patient. Patient stated “ It feels just like I’m at home”.
