Empowering Parents: Why & How • The Law requires parent involvement as a condition of receiving ESEA $ • Section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) • How can parents become involved? • School Site Council (SSC) • English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) • School Advisory Committee on State Compensatory Education (SAC-SCE) • Other District and School Parent Advisories for Categorical Programs (DELAC, DAC, PIC)
The Law: Parental Involvement • Categorical programs, activities and procedures shall be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.
