  2. Introduction Many of us have an question in our mind that what is the difference between Employer Nomination Scheme Subclass 186 and Temporary Skilled Shortage 482 visa. These both are the employer nominated visas and each of them as their own importance.Anyplace in Australia, except if your occupation is on the ROL - the position must be in a provincial territory - or Labor Agreement stipulates area.

  3. Subclass 186 Vs TSS 482 Visa 1. Available Streams: There are two streams available in Visa Subclass 186 A) Direct Stream. B) Temporary Residence Transition Stream. For TSS 482, there three streams: A) Short Term Stream. B) Medium Term Stream. C) Labour Agreement Stream.

  4. Designated Regional Areas To Work/Live: By holding subclass 186, an applicant is allowed to work and live anywhere in Australia. On the other hand by holding TSS 482, an applicant is allowed to work and live anywhere in Australia, unless your occupation is on the ROL - the position must be in a regional area - or Labour Agreement stipulates region.

  5. Validity Of Visas: 186 visa offers an individual to work and live in Australia for the period of 5 years. However, validity period for visa 482 depends on the stream. If an candidates are under short term stream then time period granted to them is 2 years and if they are in medium stream or in labour agreement stream then time period granted to them is 4 years.

  6. Assesssment Test For Skill: 186 Visa- If you are under direct stream then you need to appear and pass the skill assessment test. However, for temporary residence transition there is no requirement for the skill test. TSS 482 Visa: For this one, skill assessment is totaly depends on the occupation for which an individual has applied for.

  7. Age Criteria: To obtain visa 186 age limit is 45 years however, if you are scientist or researcher then there is barrier on age. For TSS 482, there is age limit.

  8. Experience: Subclass 186: You are required to have 3 years of working experience for Direct Stream and for temporary residence transition must be working in the nominated occupation and have 3 years of working experience under the same employer. TSS 482: Candidates should have minimum of 2 years of working experience in same occupation or related field.
