  2. What Are Coral Reefs? • A coral is an inch long ocean animal that attaches itself to the skeleton of other corals. • Corals eat a type of animal called zooplankton.

  3. Can you see it now? • Coral reefsare very beautiful, living animals. • You could say it’s a rainbow in the sea !

  4. Weird things on coral reefs • There are some weird fish on coral reefs. • There are almost 15 different types of sea snakes that live on coral reefs and are poisonous!

  5. Coral Plants • This is a coral plant. • There are very few coral plants. • There is a plant that grows on coral calledalgae.

  6. A Few Fishy Facts • When corals die they leave their skeleton for other corals to grow on. • Old coral may be 98 feet thick , but only about 3 feet is living coral.

  7. The Fish That Live There • These are some fish that live on coral reefs: Angel fish, Stingrays, and Lion fish • These are only some of the exotic fish that live on or around coral reefs.
