European Network of Youth Centers. What is ENYC?. How it started? Iniciative cames at the beginning from Council of Europe CoE created 2 youth centers, first in Strasbourg (1972) and second in Budapest in 1974 these centers didn´t stay alone.

  2. What is ENYC?

  3. How it started? • Iniciative cames at the beginning from Council of Europe • CoE created 2 youth centers, first in Strasbourg (1972) and second in Budapest in 1974 • these centers didn´t stay alone...

  4. In many countries there were created youth centers • this centers were different • international, national, regional, local • different topics, different standards, different methods of work • level of cooperation and involvement in the youth policy • all this centers helps to develope youth work in different areas

  5. many of international and inter-cultural youth centers were created • needs for some standards for better cooperation...

  6. A youth centre which promotes intercultural and international understanding has a number of key features: • It uses participatory methods and non-formal learning; • It deliberately engages in international and intercultural exchange and learning; • It promotes awareness and encourages the development of Europe's diverse culturalidentities; • It shares the Council of Europe's values of universal human rights and pluralistdemocracy; • It seeks solutions to such problems as xenophobia and racism.

  9. Aims: • To contribute to the implementation of the objectives and priorities of CoE • To exchange experience and good practice of young leaders and youth workers Membership: • Full • Associate • Honorary

  10. How does the European Network operate?

The General Assembly • Session once a year • Drawing up the main orientation of the Association • Voting the Secretary General’s and Treasurer’s reports • Approving the accounts of the previous financial year • Provisional budget for the next year Bureau • It composed of 7 members (consultants) • They are chosen by GA, every 3 years • Member of the Burea can be elected only twice

  12. Secretary general • Contact point for all members • Taking care of all the practicalities and running the Network • At this time it´s in Finland – Kokkola (Ritva – ask her everything – bureau@eycn.org)

  13. The Network proposes to: • Develop standards for local, regional and national centres as a means of demonstrating their quality while preserving pluralism and diversity • Provide support to individual centres as they develop their work

  14. Facilitate study visits and other exchanges so that centres can learn from each other • Promote study of the processes of inter-cultural and international learning in non-formal settings.

  15. The Network, which is formally constituted in French law, is governed by an annual assembly and a small Bureau (executive board).
