  1. What is the name of Winston's apartment complex? Ashley Hamel

  2. Quick answer-His Apartment complex is named Victory Mansion Pg. 1 part 1

  3. “His chin nuzzled into his breast in an effort to escape the vile wind, slipped quickly through the glass doors of Victory Mansion, though not quickly enough to prevent a swirl of gritty dust from entering along with him.” • This word choice was to illustrate the apartment is very dirty, just as the rest of the Oceania and the Party. Page 1, part 1 Diction

  4. When Winston visited the Parsons flat he noticed it was also dirty, beat up, and dull in a different way, Pg.18 part 1

  5. Until they are aware of how the party is molding their thoughts by their propaganda, they will never realize the truth about the party until they realize the truth of their surroundings. Pg.62 part 1

  6. The irony in this section is that the Victory Mansion is described as gritty, and un clean. When people think of a victory Mansion the imagery that would come to mind is that is a place to be proud of and well taken care of. Literary device: Irony

  7. The theme that is depicted in this is how the use of propaganda can alter the views of people, just by replacing what they think is right to their own versions of what they think is right. The party tries so hard make people think in their particular way by the use of propaganda and they fill their minds with misleading information they wire us to believe. Theme

  8. George Orwell is trying to get the message across to readers to not be fooled so easily, and not to believe what everyone tells you because they don’t always tell the truth. Have your own thoughts and be open minded to your instincts. Also don’t let those in power control you without understanding and questioning them. Authors purpose
