Bus Rapid Transit Definition • Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is best explained as the simulation of rail transit using bus technology. • Key components are: • high frequency bus service along the Corridor, enhanced amenities such as aesthetic street furniture and landscaping, • technology treatments to make the service “rapid” and • appropriate marketing campaigns
East Lancaster BRT Project • Existing E. Lancaster Components for this Project • Six-mile Corridor • 2,400 daily passenger boardings • Current service features 15-minute frequencies (similar to light rail frequency) • High levels of pedestrian activity • Corridor contains a mix of commercial and retail establishments adjacent to residential areas
