Things to do when planning for College • There is no one way or right way to do research on colleges • “If you are not sure where you want to go to college, you may want to start with looking at college cultures, the kind of programs or majors they offer, and how easy it is to get in.” (paragraph 2) • Stay organized. Keep track of deadlines, requirements, tests, financial aid, how to apply, contact information, and calendars. • When looking at colleges, keep in mind your interests and potential majors. • Gaining an understanding of the college atmosphere will help you pick what college would be best for you.

Things to do when planning a career: • “Planning for a career or job opportunity takes patience and a little imagination if you are going to explore possibilities and perhaps expand your sense of what is possible for you as a high school graduate hoping to enter the work force.” • There are many online resources that can help you decide your career path. • Keeping a folder will help you stay organized • Keep in mind what your strengths and weaknesses are. • Keep a record of everything.

Our Opinion: • Organization was the most important suggestion in this document. • It is important to have enough information to make an informed decision • Community College is a good option if you want to save money and/or don’t know what you want to major in yet • Looking through websites to find your interest areas is important for both finding colleges and career paths
