The class is fun and interesting! • In class we practice understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in French. • To learn French we do many activities, including: • Working in groups • Making posters • Singing songs • Playing games • Watching films • Reading stories • Performing skits • Writing letters • Reciting vocabulary • Completing puzzles • Taking field trips • Tasting French food • & MUCH MORE!
You will gain valuable skills! • For high school graduation, students must take 1 year of a world language or 1 year of art. • For admission into a four-year university (UC Merced, UC Davis, Sac State, Fresno State, Stanislaus, etc.) 2 years of a world language are required, but 3 years is recommended. • Students who already speak Spanish, Hmong, Punjabi, or another language can become trilingual! • You will be able to access French websites and chat with French students. • Learning French can help you get a job since most employers prefer to hire people who speak multiple languages. • Due to being near Yosemite, many French-speaking people visit our area and shop in local businesses.
You have an opportunity to go to France • Every other summer, Madame Gordon-Walker takes a group on a 9 or 10-day trip to France and neighboring countries. • After you have completed at least one year of French study, you too could register for a France trip. Friends and family are encouraged to join us on this trip. Unfortunately, this trip isn’t cheap, so start saving early! • Email lgordon@muhsd.k12.ca.us for more information.

In the past few years, we have… • Eaten at French restaurants • Thrown Mardi Gras and Halloween Parties • Taken trips to San Francisco, Fresno, and San Jose • Sold roses and teddy bears for Valentine’s Day • Had potlucks and movie nights • Made club t-shirts • Run carnival game booths • Done community service activities • and MUCH MORE!!!!
