  4. What is Advance? • The campus system used to record academic appointment and advancement actions (aka “packets”) • Standardizes the packet process • Central repository for academic actions • Campus source for metrics related to appointment and advancement actions

  9. Help! • If you can’t get answers from either the Buttons or the Help hyperlink, contact your Academic Personnel Analyst (APA) noted at the bottom of the page. The APA should be able to explain the Academic Appointment and Advancement process to you, as well as resolve Advance system issues.

  10. Things to consider • Data in the Advance system was gathered from several sources; you are the best person to validate it • If you find an issue with the data, let your APA know • The title on your Overview page comes from the payroll system • The new rank or step will not be updated in Advance until it has been entered into the payroll system
