  3. Energy Conservation Building Retro-Fit Program • Over $1.8 Million in Annual Energy Savings $17 Million Already Invested Comprehensive Energy Audits & Retrofits • Green Building Practices/LEED Standards All New Construction New 4th Precinct & Scully Estate

  4. Alternative Energy Projects Installations at County Facilities • Police Headquarters/County Farm - Solar • New 4th Precinct - LEED/Solar • Citibank Park – Solar Green Power • 15% of County’s Energy Use

  5. Suffolk County Bus Fleet Upgrades 162 Buses in Fleet • 59 Replaced in 2005–Clean Diesel 55 Additional Buses Purchased – In Service 2009 Reducing their emissions 90% • Switch to ULSD in 2007 25% reduction in particulate matter • 4 Hybrid Buses to Replace Diesel Pilot Program – 2009

  6. Suffolk County Bus Fleet Upgrades Emissions Retrofits for 107 County Buses Diesel Particulate Emissions Filters • Enabled through use of ULSD • Effective in Suburban Areas Increased Heat Rate

  7. Bio-Diesel Fuel Program Heavy Duty Fleet Pilot Program • Bergen Point Facility in 2005 • Expanded to Indian Island in 2006 Eastern & Western Suffolk Access • Increased to B-20 in 2006 at both facilities

  8. Bio-Diesel Fuel Program Heavy Duty Fleet Resolution 555-2007 Converts all County Fueling Stations to B-20 January 1, 2009 Plans for Increase to B-20 Being Formulated

  9. Bio-Diesel Fuel Program Heavy Duty Fleet B20 Results • Conversion of 13 Diesel Fueling Stations • Conversion of 234 Heavy Duty Vehicles • Improving Ambient Air Quality • Reducing Dependence • No Retro-Fitting or Maintenance Costs Incurred
