  1. The Water cycle. By Valerie leijen

  2. Life-giving water circles constantly between the air, land and oceans. This endless journey is called the water cycle. Here's how it works. • When it rains, water soaks into the soil or drains away into the worlds streams and rivers. • Rivers flow into the sea. • Heat from the sun causes warm water to rise into the air in the form of water vapour. • This process is called evaporation. • High in the air, water vapour cools to form tiny droplets of water, which join together to make clouds. • Later, clouds shed their rain, and so the cycle comes round again.

  3. cycle • Water evaporates • Water vapour condenses to form clouds • Moisture is released as rain, hail or snow • Rain runs into lakes and rivers • Rain soaks into aquifers • Rivers flow into the sea

  4. The cycle explained • Evaporation: sun heats water. Water changes into vapour and rises into the air. • Condensation: water vapour cools and changes. It forms clouds full with liquid drops of water. • Water drops fall as rain. • Some water soaks into the ground and is taken up by plants. Some water flows back into the rivers. some water fills up the ocean.

  5. Stop and think! The water cycle keeps water always on the move. What would happen if the water cycle stopped?

  6. Explanation. Water is hardly ever made or destroyed. The same water has been around on the earth for millions of years. It moves, to on a never ending variety of never ending journeys called the water cycle.

  7. Thank you for watching! By Valerie Leijen. The end!
