What is the impact of the General Education Program? • The General Education Program is CMU’s commitment to training the next generation of Michigan Citizens • The General Education Program impacts all 20,000 undergraduate students enrolled at CMU • Every year the General Education Program encompasses over 200,000 SCH

  3. Spring 2011 • Tweaked QR Implementation • Call for QR Course Proposals • Tweaked WI Implementation • Call for WI Course Proposals • Tweaked IA Implementation • Call for IA Course Proposals • Discontinued S&H Requirement

Summer 2011 • Finalized concerns regarding Gen Ed competencies (e.g., presentation, grading, inclusiveness, bulletin copy) • Developed a Gen Ed Director listserv for Michigan based universities • Developed new Gen Ed Website (www.cmich.edu/gened) • Drafted Gen Ed changes to Curricular Authority Document • Drafted Gen Ed student learning outcomes • Drafted Gen Ed assessment plan • Drafted a call for proposals for 7 remaining UP subgroups

Fall 2011 • Address and resolve all concerns regarding Gen Ed competencies • FACIT to Sponsor QR & WI workshops (e.g., 09.16.11) • Set timeline for implementation of revised Gen Ed -Internal needs -External needs (articulation agreements) • Implement required changes to the UP BDS & CAD • Organize baseline assessment of Gen Ed • Finalize all UP calls for course proposals
