The Epic journey of Introduction to technology Fluency A Brian Knight Production Making Information Available to the World Desktop Publishing with MS Word Overview This course was all about becoming fluent with basic technology. Therefore, the first lesson began with the actual hardware components of computers, networks, the internet, microchips., etc. One of the biggest breakthroughs in technology was the internet because it was the first technology that made information universally accessible. In this lab we learned aboutinformation types and how to access it through the web. Microsoft word is the universally recognized program for creating word documents. In this lab, we learned MS word’s various auto-formatting abilities, and how to make a clean, professional looking document.MS word fluency is crucial for any wannabe techy. Eventually it evolved to the manipulation of technology, including computer languages, various important software, and how to access information through technology. Presentation of Information with MS PowerPoint Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel Dynamic Web Programming Visual Programming with Alice Language. We created webpages with xhtml and then made them interactive with functions written in Java Script. In this lab, we learned how to navigate the virtual world of Alice. It creates virtual representations of objects and allows the programmer to alter them in the world with methods and Excel is a powerful number cruncher. In this lab we learned to visualize data in various ways, including pie charts and bar graphs. We also became fluent with its various functions, such as the SUM function. In this lab we learned how to make power points. We learned how to animate objects, import images, and use the preset styles to make clean-looking presentatioins. Functions.
