  1. How to shut down McAfee Antivirus?

  2. Disable Scanning and Firewall- • On the Windows system tray, at the bottom right side right click on the McAfee icon. You will have to tap on the ‘Show hidden icons’ arrow for seeing the antivirus icon in Windows 7. • Go to ‘Change Settings’ tab and then click on ‘Real Time Scanning’ option. • Tap on ‘Turn Off’ button. The antivirus will also confirm when you would like to resume the real time scanning process. Either select a time or pick the ‘Never’ option in case if you do not want to resume it. Then again click on ‘Turn Off’. •  Again right click on the antivirus icon. Click on ‘Change Settings’ and ‘Firewall’. a

  3. Then shut down the McAfee- • Go to Windows Start Button and then in the search field type ‘services.msc’. Tap Enter button. • Right click on the ‘McAfee Framework’ by scrolling down on the screen. Click on ‘Stop’ then. • Again right click on all the McAfee related services and then tap on ‘Properties’. Tap on ‘Disabled’, ‘Stop’, and then ‘OK’. Its services include Network Associates McShield, Network Associates Task Manager, SNMP Service and SNMP Trap Service. Once you are done with deactivating the services, close the Services window.

  4. Keep In Mind: There are chances that some of the antivirus programs may not let you disable the services. For turning off this protection you have to open the McAfee VirusScan Console. And then right-click on ‘Access Protection’. Unmark ‘Prevent McAfee services from being stopped’ option after clicking on ‘Properties’. And for enabling click on ‘Apply’ button.
