How we use e-learing • Support of on campus education by using: • Applets • Discussion boards • Peer review • Online assessment (mostly formative/diagnostic) • Cooperation between students (exchange documents) • Etc. • Distance/International education • Support of international students • Support of our students who are abroad • Use of experts at distance (online courses, videoconferencing) • Cooperation between students from different countries

Characteristics of the implementation • Central (university level) • License, hardware, technology • Link with student administration • Students enroll themselves in courses • Projects to stimulate (not oblige) the use of the VLE • Local (department or teacher level) • Teacher determines if and how he/she uses the VLE • Some departments oblige teachers to use the VLE

Educational implementation • VLE training for teachers • Presenting good practices of VLE use • Each department has its own VLE-coordinator • Helpdesk for technical assistance • Each department had student assistants who helped teachers with filling VLE courses • Educational consultants who can help individual teachers with course design • Curriculum consultants • Grass roots • Website with ideas for ICT-use in education (www.digitaledidactiek.nl)
