Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA) • Changes in the Law effective 01-16-09 adds a: • Military Leave Component • Employees may take up to 26 weeks of unpaid • leave if their spouse, son, daughter or parent is: • (1) Called to active duty • (2) Injured while on active duty and requires • care once they return from duty
University Medical Leave • Current Policy: Requires a 6-month period • between leaves • New Policy: Requires a 30-day period • between leaves • Benefits paid during the leave remains the same: • 6 to 11 weeks of 80% to 100% salary based on • length of service • Can now be used for more than one illness over • the course of a fiscal year
Code of Conduct (1 of 2) • General policy is new, but incorporates several policies from current policy manual. This policy includes: • Compliance with Laws and Regulations (New) • Conflicts of Interest (New) • Nepotism • Consensual Relations • Kickbacks, Gifts, and other forms of Secret • Payment (New) • University Advancement Gifts, Entertainment and • Favors
