General There are a total of 399 FIS TDs worldwide from 38 countries. 349 are men and 48 (12%) are women.

Qualification Statistics TDs’ experience ranges from newly qualified to a maximum of 37 years since qualification. The total number of man/woman/years of TD experience among the current TD List is 5,246 years! The average period qualified is 13 years.
Candidates and Applicants There are 15 Candidates from 10 countries, of whom 1 is a woman. There are 17 Applicants from 2 countries, of whom 2 are women.
TD Examiners 95 TDs are designated as TD Examiners (23.8%), from 19 countries and 3 from FIS. 5 of the Examiners (5.2%) are women.
Assignments 2006-2007 756 separate events were calendared for 2006-2007 (excluding MAS events). There were 640 men’s events and 579 ladies’ events. Many were combined into joint events. 414 TDs carried out the 756 events/assignments in 2006-2007.
Assignments 2006-2007 The average number of events carried out was 1.82 per TD. The largest average per nation was 4 events/ assignments per TD – by SPA. The largest number of events held was by ITA (156), which had 33 TDs. The largest number of TD events/assignments (97) was carried out by AUT, which had 58 TDs.
Where to from Here? Assignments. A more complete record will be kept of how many assignments each TD carries out each year. This will enhance transparency and ensure that TDs who do not carry out assignments are identified. Categories. A record of which categories TDs are assigned to (eg. CIT, MAS) will be kept. This will provide useful information on TDs assigned to various categories, so that assignments are spread equitably. Speed Qualifications. A record will be kept of TDs who are speed event qualified and records of maintenance of speed event qualifications. This will ensure that, in these litigious times, only those TDs who remain qualified are assigned to speed events.
Update Attendance. A record of attendance at TD Updates is now kept. This will also improve transparency and ensure that TDs who do not attend Updates are identified and managed. (ICR Art. 602.1.7) No Assignments. A record of TDs who do not carry out assignments is now kept, so that they are identified and managed. (ICR Art. 602.1.7) Log Books. Individual Log Books are the only record of a TD’s experience. Maintained by the individual, and copied to the TD Commissioner annually, so that the Commissioner can negotiate high level assignments based upon a transparent record of the individual’s skills and experience. A blank TD Log Book is available as required.
