This is Just the Beginning… This Introduction and Workshop will introduce you to the WebCT environment, and many of the available Tools. It is a beginning point for anyone thinking of using WebCT in their teaching.

WebCT is a browser-based CMS (course management system) that: • delivers course materials (that you’ve created elsewhere and/or in WebCT) • enables class interactions (through Tools like Discussions, Home Pages, Presentations) • enables secure Assignment and Quiz taking • allows for on-line course administration (through Selective Release of materials, grading, progress tracking, etc.)

How to Build a WebCT Course SELECTthe Tools that you want to use (e.g. Mail, Assignments, Quizzes, Discussions, etc.) and add them to Organizer Pages Using the WebCT File Manager or WebDAV, UPLOAD any external content (e.g. presentations, documents, images) Select your preference (using Content Modules or Organizer Pages) and LINK your uploaded content so that it’s accessible. CONFIGURE any Tools that you’re using (e.g. adding information to Assignment, developing questions and Quizzes, adding Topic Discussions, etc.) Decide on and configure any SELECTIVE RELEASES of content and Tools. Attend to the course area AESTHETICS (e.g. develop and add background images and banners, stylize your colours, format tables, etc.)
