  5. Operational Security Please remember that this briefing is FOUO ( for official use only). This Brief is for your use; it is not intended for general public knowledge, but it is what you need to know and have the right to know.

  6. Official Word Keep in mind that the Rear Detachment and your FRG Leader are the “Official Word”. Don’t buy into rumors and don’t believe it unless it comes from the Rear Detachment, your FRG leader or an Official Army Agency and don’t spread it.

Work ourselves out of a job! • HHC BCT • Facilitate Command and Control of the BCT and partner with the • Provincial Leaders and the Iraqi Army Division • 4-1 BSTB • Provide Critical Enabler Support to the Brigade • Control maneuver space, serve as a land owning battalion • Advise and assist the Tikrit Qada (IP (at different levels)), government, econ, etc.) • Advise and assist the Iraqi Army and subordinate battalions • Facilitate governance, economic and security capabilities for Tikrit • ENDSTATE • Effective Rule of Law and Self-Governance emerging • Foundation for economic and social growth built and growing • Insurgents in the TIKRIT Qada are defeated or not effective • Population has growing trust and confidence in Iraqi security and • governance institutions Our Mission

  8. Our Mission Advise and Assist the Iraqi Army that is responsible for providing security for the Tikrit area of operations. Advise and Assist the Iraqi Police forces in the Tikrit Area of Operations Establish a small liaison force at the Joint Coordination Center in Tikrit, Iraq (Birthday Palace). Provide communication support to the BDE. Conduct unmanned aerial reconnaissance at the BDE and BN level. Provide SIGINT and HUMINT for the BDE Meet regularly with local leaders to discuss security concerns, quality of life, infrastructure, and other issues. Meet with local citizens to determine their infrastructure needs to help determine what projects to fund or request. Work with the local government to fund projects in the Tikrit Area of Operations.

There are several key tasks all soldiers must complete before Deployment Soldier Preparations ALL SOLDIERS! • MAKE PROVISIONS FOR FAMILY MEMBER TO PAY BILLS • ENSURE FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE A SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY! • One for Housing, One for the Bank…determine what each agency needs and use JAG to help you execute this • Talk to your bank, and any other financial institutions and see if they need a special POA! • ENSURE NEXT OF KIN ROSTER IS 100% ACCURATE WITHIN YOUR Company • Last Will and Testament are Finalized and Family Members Know the location of them.

Married Soldiers Soldier/Family Preparation • MAKE PROVISIONS FOR FAMILY MEMBER TO PAY BILLS • IDENTIFY FAMILY MEMBERS WHO NEED LANGUAGE ASSISTANCE • IDENTIFY FAMILY MEMBERS WHO DO NOT DRIVE • ENSURE SPOUSE HAS A SPECIAL POWER OF ATTORNEY! • One for Housing, One for the Bank…determine what each agency needs and use JAG to help you execute this • Have Spouse / Family fill out Family SRP Sheet (Comfort Person, etc.)

  21. Prior to Deployment Do you know where the important papers are? Family Readiness prior to Deployment -Wills -Emergency Data -SGLI -Powers of Attorney -Medical Records -Tax Records -Banking Info -Employment History -Important Phone Numbers -Vehicle Maintenance Records Do you have an extra set of keys to your Home and Car? Do you know how to pay the bills and when they are due? - Review your budget and spending habits. Is your vehicle in good working order and registered (on/off post)? Is your ID Card current (yours/children (if applicable))? If you have Weapons, are they registered? Is someone locally (other than self) designated in writing and notarized to care for minors if something happens to you while soldier is deployed?

  23. Deployment Entitlements BAS and Separate Rations Family Separation Allowance (FSA-T) Paid when soldiers are involuntarily separated from their legal dependents for more than 30 days. The entitlement is $250 per month. If soldiers acquire after TCS orders are also entitled to this. Incidental portion of the per Diem Rate $3.50 per day. Will receive this on the final travel voucher Hostile Fire Pay Payable in the full amount of $225, without proration or reduction, for each month, during any part of which a Soldier qualifies. Entitlements will start upon the arrival and terminate upon departure. Hardship Duty pay (AKA Save Pay) Supersedes foreign duty pay. From $50 to $150 a month payable to all soldiers. Prorated on a 30 day basis. Entitlements will start upon arrival and terminate upon departure Combat zone Income Tax Exclusion

  24. Eagle Cash is a stored value card that replaces dollar bills and coins with secure and convenient “electronic currency”. An encrypted microchip keeps track of the available balance on the card automatically, accurately and securely. Cardholders can add funds to the card at the Finance Office, or at self-service Kiosks (where available). Eagle Cash Card As of April 1, 2009 , all U.S. Army Personnel are required to obtain an Eagle Cash Stored Value Card (SVC) and are highly encouraged to use it.
