WERE DO GRIZZLY BEARS LIVE? • Grizzly bears live mostly in the northern states of the U.S.A, Canada, and other northern countries.
WHAT DO GRIZZLY BEARS EAT? Grizzly Bears will eat about anything, such as plants and berries, they also eat things that have washed up on the beach such as seaweed, crabs, and dead fish. Grizzlies mostly prefer meat though, they will fish for salmon and trout in streams and will go hunting for mammals like moose, deer, elk, and caribou. When grizzly bears wonder into civilization they find easy meals raiding cabins, camps, trash cans, and city dumps.
HOW DO THEY PROTECT THEMSELVES? Grizzly bears are very strong, they have 20 claws that are as long as a man’s finger that they use to fight, dig for insects, and kill their prey. Grizzlies are usually shy around people but will attack if threatened or have young.
FUN FACTS ABOUT GRIZZLIES! The scientific name for the grizzly bear is Ursusarctoshorribilis. Grizzly bears have a better sense of smell than a hound dog, and can smell food from miles away. The large hump on their back is muscle. Grizzlies have claws as long as a man’s finger!
MORE FUN FACTS! A Grizzlies mating season is early May though mid July. Their young are born in January or February when mothers are hibernating in a den, their litter size is usually 1-3. Cubs will stay with their mother for 2-4 years. grizzlies coloration is usually dark brown but can vary from light cream to black.
