Drug • Wide variety of herbal mixtures that produce experiences similar to marijuana • Users report psychotic effects like extreme anxiety, paranoia, and hallucinations.
Other Names • Fake Weed • K2 • Moon Rocks • Skunk • Yucatan Fire
Appearance • Looks are similar to Marijuana
Methods of Administration • Mostly Smoked • Sometimes mixed with Marijuana • Is prepared as an herbal infusion for drinking.
Short term effects • delusions • elevated blood pressure • elevated heart rate • hallucinations • heart palpitations • increased agitation • nausea • pale skin • seizures • vomiting
Long-term effects • Long term effects of Spice haven’t been studied. Although prolonged exposure can lead to damage to the lungs and throat.
Is it addictive? • Just like most other drugs, using Spice frequently or in large amounts can cause addiction, which is characterized by the obsessive compulsion to use the drug despite negative life consequences to health, finances, or relationships
Rehab issues • Rehab centers do exist in. Only two exist in San Antonio. They are The San Antonio State Hospital and Laurel Ridge Treatment Center
Laws legal issues • These synthetic cannabinoids are designated as Schedule I substances, the most restrictive category under the Controlled Substances Act. Schedule I substances have a high potential for abuse, no accepted medical use for treatment in the United States and a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug under medical supervision. As a result of this order, the full effect of the Controlled Substances Act and its implementing regulations of Schedule I substances will be imposed on the manufacture, distribution, possession, importation, and exportation of these synthetic cannabinoids.
