Winter Carnival Vivekanand International School celebrated the winter carnival in the school premises therebywelcoming the winter season to foster a sense of bonhomie, pride, belongingness, connectedness and emerging heritage through fun and educational experiences. The carnival was housed with various stalls of games, activities, competitions and pavilion of states depicting their cultural attributes like art, food, customs and clothing etc.The gigantic appearance of crowd added colours to the carnival. The fun and frolic moments shared by the teachers, the students, and the parents were eye-catching as if they had waited desperately for the winters to come. The Punjab and Rajasthan corners were the centre of attraction where the huge crowd turned up tohave glimpse of well designed attires and souvenirs. The tiny tots in the faircherished the Kids’ Zone which was equipped with various games. The carnival consummated with lot of fun at theDeejay-cornerand delicious viands at the food corner.
Orientation Programme Vivekanand International School recently organized an orientation programme for the Parents of new entrants in the Pre-Primary Section. The programme was aimed at educating the parents about school culture and values. It began with GaneshaStuti by the Pre-primary students. On this occasion, Mrs. Vijay Ahuja, Director(Childcare & Administration) made a presentation focussing on the issues such as –good parenting, the need of nutritious food for children and personal hygiene. Besides that, they also laid emphasis on timely immunization of children and maintaining a positive attitude towards them, as these factors are very important for the children’s balanced growth. In addition to that, they also spoke about the behavioral changes in children as they grow up.
SCIENCE CUM ART EXHIBITION • The exhibition at Vivekanand International School showcased the ultimate creativity at the hands of the young students. All the students of the school participated actively putting up scientific and art exhibits of great variety. The exhibition very clearly depicted the research work of the students. The spectacular array of Science models and projects were the handwork of the students. The Parents appreciated the exhibition and showed keen interest in the various projects on display. The aesthetic sense of the students was also on ample display in a myriad combination of colours and ideas mainly upholding the ‘Best out of waste’ concept. The creations were made out of every possible waste and throw away materials. Our students prepared useful materials like pencil holders and vases made out of rainbow coloured bangles, animals made out of ice-cream sticks and wooden spoons. Our little artists of Pre-primary level also created some art pieces and handicraft madeout of finger printing, vegetable painting and paper tearing. The students work comprised of glass painting, sceneries and many unbelievable decorative items. The exhibition was appreciated by the parents & visitors. The Chairman, Mr. R. L. Ahuja applauded the efforts of budding scientists and artists.

BAISAKHI CELEBRATION Vivekanand International School celebrated the festival of Baisakhi with lot of fervour. An impressive & colourful function was held in the school premises. The students were dressed in colourful attires. The colourful spirit of Punjab came alive when the students welcomed the Sikh New Year.The Chairman, Mr. R. L. Ahuja said that we should follow the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh, his beliefs, truthfulness & sacrifice in our life so that we become good human beings.
A STEP TOWARDS GREEN ENVIRONMENT PLANTATION WEEK VIVEKANAND INTERNATIONAL Schoolcelebrated Vanmahotsav week in the school premises. During this week the students and teachers planted saplings in the school garden and shared views on how to make the environs more conducive to good health. On this occasion, the Chairman, Mr . R. L. Ahuja said that the students, who are our future generations,have a responsibility towards the environment. They should take steps to preserve it. The students presented compositions,poetry, slogans and drawings based on environment.
Vivekanand International School organiseda workshop on yoga for the students thereby imparting and inculcating in them ways and method to build up their confidence, will power, strong character, concentration and face the new challenges to deal with their academic and personal areas. The students were told about various asanas and pranayam, the right method of performing asanas and their benefits. The workshop saw overwhelming response from the students who participated enthusiastically.
***ATHLETIC MEET*** AT VIVEKANAND INTERNATIONAL VIVEKANAND INTERNATIONAL celebrated a nine-day long inter house athletic competitions. Students from classes LKG to 12th participated in various events such as toffee race, sack race, obstacle race, relay race, hurdle race & shot put throw. The meet was flagged off by Mr. R.L.Ahuja, Chairman of the school, who also encouraged the students and appreciated them for their participation.
Janmashtami Vivekanand International School recently celebrated Krishna Janmashtami with great fanfare. A large number of students participated in it. Little boys and girls dressed up as Krishna and Radha won the hearts of all present there. The highlights of the day were Raas-leela and Dahihandi celebrations. The Chairman, Mr. R. L. Ahuja in his brief address, laid emphasis on the importance of the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. He said that good results will definitely follow the right actions. On this occasion, he also reiterated Lord Krishna’s message of love and compassion, of oneness and pluralism. And in the end, he extended heartiest greetings and good wishes to the students.
CELEBRATION OF GREEN DAY The Environment Club of Vivekanand International School celebrated ‘Green Day’ to spread message of clean environment. The students displayed vegetables and plants in the activity room and were dressed in green colour to celebrate the Green Day with traditional fervour celebrations. The students also carried out various activities such as pasting green leaves on the tree, finger printing on a sketched frog, crocodile and parrots. They also participated with great enthusiasm in a quiz based on environment related questions. The children also made small paper trees with the message ‘Save Trees’ inscribed on them.
INDEPENDENCE DAY On August 14th, 2013, Vivekanand International School celebrated the 66th Independence day with great fervour and enthusiasm. The function was held to inspire the students to respect & admire our National heroes. The function commenced by seeking the blessing of the Almighty, followed by a musical performance by the school choir to instill in them feeling of patriotism. This awe inspiring performance was followed by another foot tapping performance by our senior students. A well synchronized mass-demo was presented by our senior students. The function commenced with Chairman sir, hoisting the flag followed by the recital of National Anthem and consummated by the Chairman’s address to the students inspiring them to acquire proper education to achieve pinnacle.
