FAMOUS COMPOSERS • Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 - July 31, 1886) was a Hungarian romantic composer and pianist. Together with Frederick Chopin, they are considered the most important romantic piano composers and two of the most important pianists of the time.
FAMOUS COMPOSERS • Zoltan Kodaly(December 16, 1882 - Budapest March 6, 1967) was a Hungarian composer, orchestra conductor, music educator, linguist and philosopher, one of the most influential masters of traditional Hungarian music. • He is considered, after Bela Bartok, to be the most important composer of his homeland and is world-famous for the invention of the Kodály-módszer pedagogical method.
FAMOUS COMPOSERS • Bela Bartok (March 25, 1881 - September 26, 1945) was a Hungarian composer and pianist. • He is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century and, together with Franz Liszt, the greatest Hungarian composer. The collection and analytical study of folk music classifies him as the founders of ethnomusicology.
TRADITIONAL DANCES Tradition and folk art are alive in Hungary This is especially true for traditional dances. Hungarian dances are unique in the world The best-known Hungarian dance is the csardas.
TRADITIONAL DISHES Hungarian cuisine has many elaborate dishes but the two most famous dishes are goulash and Pörkölt. An indispensable feature of the goulash is the hot pepper.
TRADITIONAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS Hungary is famous for its violins. Nevertheless, one of the best-known traditional musical instruments is the hurdy gurdy. The hurdy gurdy (also known as a violin with a wheel) is a stringed musical instrument that produces sound from wheel. The wheel works like a violin bow and individual notes played on the instrument resemble those of the violin.
FAMOUS SIGHTS The castle of Buda The imposing Buda Castle, on the top of the hill in the Varhegy area and with panoramic views of the Danube and the city of Budapest, is one of the most visited sights of its capital Hungary. The castle and the whole area of the castle had a turbulent history with many disasters and sieges that fully reflects the history of Hungary.
FAMOUS SIGHTS St. Stephen's Basilica St. Stephen's Basilica is a Roman Catholic basilica in Budapest, Hungary. It has been named after Stephen the First King of Hungary (975-1038 AD). Today it is the third largest ecclesiastical building in present-day Hungary.
