  2. Location/Accessibility • Cloudbreak is located almost a mile south of the small Fijian island of Tavarua • Accessed by flying into Nadi, Fiji on main island • Approximately $1,700 roundtrip from Philly using Quantas and US Airways

  3. Weather • Fiji is located in tropic of Capricorn • Winter Air: 84 degrees, Water: 75 degrees • Summer Air: 88 degrees, Water : 85 degrees • Cyclone Season- Nov - April

About Fiji • Local Vibe – actually have a good wave-sharing vibe, catch a wave, go to the end of the line and wait your turn • Cost of Living – to stay in Tavarua, it cost a pretty penny, but worth the price for the 10 on the Perfect-o-Meter; but there are cheaper places to stay on the main island • Infrastructure – Tourism is controlled by the gov.t, Tavarua only will allow 36 visitors on the island; those 36 pay almost $400 a day for their stay. Tourism law constantly debated there

History • Fiji has about 330 island, only 110 inhabited • British used land when found in the 17th century to produce sugarcane • Fiji gain it’s independence in 1970 and have a republic gov.t • Cloudbreak used to be owned by a surf resort in Tavarua • July, 1st 2010 marked the first day of public surf • Free to anyone who can get a boat to go out there or has super-strong swimming ablilities

  6. About the Wave • Very fast left over shallow coral reef • Works at all tides • Best swell direction: South, South-West • Best wind: South East (trade winds)

  7. Seasons • Great all year round • Best in Winter months (Nov- April) • Rain and humidity factor in summer • World tour event was always in May
