Creating Effective Learning with IWB How do we create effective lessons so all students can learn?
Objectives • After attending the lecture the student will demonstrate knowledge of lesson planning by creating a 4 slide lesson using SMART technology
What are important aspects of teaching and therefore of lesson planning?
Writing Objectives and Meeting Standards • Bloom’s Taxonomy • National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) • ABCD format
Why NETS? • International Society for Technology in Education • Conceptual Age (Pink, 2006) • Forrester Research • “at least 3.3 million white-collar jobs and $136 billion in wages will shift from US to low-cost countries like India, China, and Russia by 2015”
ABCD of Instructional Objectives • Audience • Behavior • Condition • Degree
Class Objective dissected • After attending the lecture the student will demonstrate knowledge of lesson planning by creating a 4 slide lesson using SMART technology • Audience = • the student • Behavior = • demonstrate knowledge of lesson planning • Condition = • After attending the lecture • Degree = • 4 slide lesson using SMART technology
Connecting Instructional Objectives and NETS • Working together • write an ABCD objective on any subject area, include the use of a technology • Now identify the NETS student and teacher standards applicable based on your objective
IWB Project • Work with a partner to create a three page Notebook lesson based on your objective and NETS standard • Save to a USB to share on the board
