Traffic planning and management is an integrated activity involving traffic engineering, land-use planning, social science, economics and environmental matters associated with generation of traffic for the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. The Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management is an association of people practising in these fields. www.aitpm.com.au
AITPM Achievements The Institute is active in promoting informed discussion and has organised a major forum each year since 1982. The National Conference was established in 1988 and has now developed an unrivalled reputation for bringing together traffic planning and management practitioners from State and Local Government, private practice and academic institutions
Janet Brash Award • The Janet Brash Memorial Grant was created to honour the memory of Janet Brash, one of the Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management’s (AITPM) strongest and active supporters. • This is an important AITPM activity that that aims to foster ongoing knowledge building. • The two innovation awards, including a $4,000 prize each, relate to the areas of: • Traffic Engineering / Management • Transport Planning • Further details, eligibility requirements and entry forms available on website or Brochure at this Technical Forum. • Entries close 30 March 2013.
AITPM Membership • For admission as a Member of the Institute, an applicant must: • hold formal academic qualifications associated with transport planning and traffic management gained from a recognised tertiary body approved by the National Council; • and • have practised for at least one year in the field of traffic planning or traffic management; • or • have had appropriate experience for a period of at least three years in the field of traffic planning or traffic management, including research, gained through a recognised organisation, • and • be in active practice in the field of traffic planning or traffic management.
