Grades are put into the system soon after the project/assignment/homework is turned in. Grading Policy Course Outline 10 Weeks • Tests/Projects 45% • Projects are due on time! • Students who turn in a project late may do so with a 15 point deduction. • Late projects will only be accepted within one week of original due date. • Class Participation & Effort- 30% • If a student is absent, they are excused from certain class experiences that cannot be made up. This will appear in SchoolTool as Ex. For Excused. • Homework- 15% • Students will receive full credit (3/3) for turning in homework the next class day. • Students will receive a 2 out of possible 3 points for returning the assignment within 1 week of due date. • Students will receive 1 point out of 3 for returning the assignment by course end. • Students who owe work at the end of the course will have a detention with the Teacher to complete the assignment. • Students are encouraged to use Lunch Bunch for help with assignment completion. • Cooking Labs 10% • On average, there are four cooking labs a quarter. • Students are assigned cooking groups and receive a group grade based upon their participation and demonstration of cooking skills. • If a student is absent on a cooking lab day, they are excused (Ex. in SchoolTool) and do not need to do anything to make up the missed experience. • Introduction to Foods • Kitchen Safety • Kitchen Sanitation • Kitchen Equipment Identification • Kitchen Utensils & Tools • Measuring • MyPlate • Dining Etiquette & Place Setting • Cooking Lab Procedures • Hand Sewing • Identification of Equipment • Safety and Measurements • Button Application • Hand Sewing • Basting Stitch, Backstitch, Blind Hem Stitch, Whip Stitch, Blanket Stitch, & Ladder Stitch • Babysitting • Age appropriate care • Home safety • Job skills
