Did you know…? MSUM’s Old Fashioned 4th of July, which was started in 1973 as a lead-in event for the U.S. Bicentennial, attracts 20,000 people of all ages annually.

Our Procedures • Have met twice per month this academic year • Brainstormed and looked at existing data/information • Teams worked through each core component • Drafted a chapter • Currently fleshing out & revising chapter & gathering additional data • Will be surveying students, faculty, and staff

Criteria 5 Engagement and Service: As called for by its mission, MSUM identifies its constituencies and serves them in ways both value.
Core Component 5a MSUM learns from the constituencies it serves and analyzes its capacity to serve their needs and expectations .

5d – service well-received • Faculty and staff serve the community through participation in local volunteer boards, music and theatre activities, fundraising (United Way, Combined Charities, etc.) • Services for the community and alumni include: • Annual Fourth of July celebration • Annual Christmas party at Nemzek for area children • Alumni are served through reunions, Alumnews (alumni newspaper), Alumni on-line community, toll-free phone information service, invitations to events on campus, travel opportunities, continuing education, & distance learning.

5d evidence - facilities • The American Cancer Society utilizes the campus mall each summer for the Clay County Relay for Life. • Area elementary schools bring students to the campus for the Children’s Theater Productions, classes at the Regional Science Center, and for Science Fairs.
