Recommendations From Final Report This summary reflects findings identified through Community Outreach and input of the Advisory Board: • Good Gravel Resources on Nelson Island will make road and port building more economical. • A good port connected to the communities by road will reduce the cost of material goods on the island. • There is a strong desire to see improved water and sewer utilities on Nelson Island. This is a health and quality of life issue. • A single, well-managed solid waste facility on the island connected by road would reduce costs and move dump sites away from the villages.
Moving forward… • Explore Administrative Vehicle for Planning and Oversight • Identify Financial Resources • Prepare Feasibility Study and Environmental Impact Statement • Improve Communication between Government Agencies and Stakeholders • Prepare a Request for Proposal for Construction Projects • Obtain Project Permits • Manage the Grant Administration • Contract and Project Management
