Empowering a Community With .NGO Directory/Hub Validation Collaborate Donations
Addressing the NGO community needs Distinction. Discoverability. Resource facilitation. A voice. • PIR requires validation of NGO status in order to obtain a domain. • PIR is launching a searchable directory and supporting profiles that will contain NGO-specific information. • Profile pages in the NGO Directory will include information on key initiatives and other data of interest to potential donors or others looking to get involved. • PIR is launching the .NGO Portal as a space for NGOs to collaborate and learn from one another.
Who will qualify for a .NGO domain? NGOs are organizations whose mission and activities are broadly centered on improving the human condition, and are non-governmental, non-profit and non-criminal.
Registration and Validation: How you do it. Register .NGO/.ONG name[s] from a Registrar Begin the Validation process: Log into the secure account management system to provide PIR your organization’s information Personalize your directory profile: Update your .NGO profile with the information you want to share with the world Approval PIR Validation Console Personalize Profile Provide credentials Register NGO/ONG name(s)
Validation Process: Sourcing lists of NGOs and building a manual verification option PIR’s Consolidated NGO Validation Database • Auto-Verification • Match NGO to existing lists that meet PIR’s criteria, e.g., government databases of non-profits, government lists of NGOs certified as working in-country • Country-based research underway identifying millions of NGOs on existing lists • Manual NGO Verification • Independent, third-party to manually verify individual NGOs as meeting PIR criteria and then add NGO name to the PIR database • Provide entry for NGOs currently not on a sourced list
