STM movies S2 Note that the “magic” C60 island grows predominantly from the right lower side due a presence of a huge 19.1o-rotated C60 island from its left upper side (which acts as a strong sink for mobile C60 molecules). When C60 flux is switched on, the 56-mer starts to grow through the successive formation of the high-order magic islands. This growth mode shows up in a stepped-like dependence of island size versus C60 deposition time.
