What Were The Movies Like? • Movies astonished audiences. • Popular genres were adventures, romance, comedies, and post war movies. • Majority of the movies were silent until end of the 20’s sound films started taking majority.
What were Silent Films like? No synchronized recorded sound. No spoken dialogue. Muted Gestures. Background music by live piano or organ to create drama and set the scene.
What were Sound Films like? First film with synchronized recorded sound was Don Juan in 1926 There were numerous attempts to bring synchronized sound to films but not until 1923 did they perfect putting sound into films. 1930 was when the talking pictures became more common then silent films which is when silent films were replaced.
