VITA’s Charter VITA shall procure IT and telecommunications on its own behalf or on behalf of other state agencies and institutions in accordance with the VPPA and regulations as MAY be prescribed by VITA. Code of Virginia, 2.2-2007
VITA’s Chief Information Officer RESPONSIBILITIES OF VITA’s CIO: • Plan for the ACQUISITION, management and use of IT for state agencies. • Direct policies/procedures that require VITA to review IT projects > $100,000 and recommend whether such projects be approved or disapproved. • Can enter into public-private partnerships to implement IT programs and projects. • Review all procurement solicitations for major IT projects.
