  1. School WideTitle I ProgramOverview

  2. All of our schools operate School Wide Title I Programs.Anything provided through the program can be used with all students of the school, not just selected low performing students.

  3. The purpose of Title I is to provide resources to help low performing students improve their core academic skills and make APY toward meeting their learning goals.

  4. Title I funds providepersonnel, SRB instructional programs materials and equipment,professional development and other support to make the instructional program more effective

  5. The Title I Program is Supplemental. Services and resources provided do not take the place of anything provided through other state or federal funds.

  6. Title I provides extra teachers at each school to reduce class size so teachers can provide more individual instruction for their students.

  7. Title I provides instructional aides to help low performing students complete their assignments & improve academic skills

  8. Title I provides instructional materials teachers use in the classroom

  9. Title I provides SRB instructional programs including Study Island, USA Test Prep, workbooks and other resources to extend learning opportunities for students

  10. Title I provides new technology and equipment for teachers to use in the instructional program

  11. Title I provides funds for release time so teachers can participate in professional development activities during the school day or at other times

  12. Title I provides funds for parent involvement activities including materials use to keep parents informed about their child’s performance

  13. Teachers may be asked to participate in surveys and needs assessments to provide input into improving the program.

  14. Teachers may be asked to help with the school’s Continuous Improvement Plan which is part of Title I

  15. If you have a new LCD, Computer or other technology, it may have been purchased with Title funds.

  16. If your school has extra teachers, Title funds may pay their salaries and benefits and they would not be there otherwise.

  17. If you have been chosen to participate in professional development, Title I may have paid for your sub or other expenses for you to participate.

  18. If you have chrome books, I-Pads, laptop computers, e-readers, etc. Title funds may have provided these things to extend learning opportunities for your students.

  19. If your school has new computers in the lab or in a cart, Title funds may have made this possible.

  20. If you have supplemental materials to help your students prepare for state assessments, Title funds may be responsible for providing these resources.

  21. If you are using web based instructional or remedial programs with your students, Title funds may have paid for this learning opportunity.

  22. If you received funds to purchase materials and supplies for your students, Title funds may have been used for this.

  23. If you received books, workbooks or other materials, Title funds may have provided these resources.

  24. Title I provides personnel, resources and support to help you provide a more effective instructional and remedial program.

  25. Parent Involvement is a very important part of Title I. We are required to set aside 1% of each school’s budget to provide activities, programs and resources for parents.

  26. Schools are required to have an annual parents meeting where parents are informed about the program, the budget & their right to request information about their child’s teacher.

  27. Schools are required to provide copies of the school’s Title I Plan and Parent Involvement Plan to parents at the beginning of the school year.

  28. Schools are required to involve parents in planning and evaluating the Title programs and the parent involvement program.

  29. Schools are required to keep parents informed about student assessment results and their child’s progress during the school year.

  30. Schools are required to invite parents to participate in appropriate school programs, activities and to serve on committees.

  31. Schools are required to ask parents to complete needs assessments and surveys to provide information to help in program improvement.

  32. Schools are required to complete Learning Compacts with parents and students each year to outline what each will do to help the student be successful in school.

  33. The school is required to give parents opportunities to provide suggestions and input. Parent must be provided opportunities to make complaints & ask for information.

  34. The school is required to involve parents in evaluating and revising continuous improvement plans, Title plans and the parent involvement plan.

  35. Each school has a Parent Involvement Lead Teacher who works with the principal to plan, provide, evaluate and revise the program.

  36. The school is required to review and evaluate their plans each year and, if needed, revise the plans to better meet the needs that have been identified.

  37. Each year schools are required to update the continuous improvement plan based on student performance data. Goals and objectives are reviewed, revised or new ones created to help low performing students improve core academic skills.

  38. Each teacher is encouraged to review the school’s plans, serve on committees and provide input into improving the program.

  39. The school’s principal works with the teachers and Title I committee to determine the greatest needs at the end of each school year. This information is used to plan the next year’s program.

  40. The system’s federal programs coordinator works with the schools to plan, develop, implement, evaluate and revise the program as needed to meet the needs of the students.
