Accommodation Services for Young People To promote independent living for vulnerable young people (16-25 years) who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness. • Integrating commissioning, funding, service provision and systems, with all relevant partners in Hertfordshire. • Developing new supported accommodation in East Herts Three Rivers and Increased Refuge Provision • Ensuring a cross-agency approach on homeless prevention initiatives, targeting both schools and individuals.
ASYP Service Model • Advice, Information and Mediation service. • Emergency Accommodation Provision (Crashpad) • YP Floating support scheme. • Supported Lodgings Scheme • 24 hour staff cover accommodation schemes which are able to support high need young people. • Joint Housing Protocol
Project Approach • Joint Commissioning approach between all Stakeholders to achieve common goals • Engagement from partners, at strategic and operational level • Work with Providers and Service Users in shaping the specifications
Homeless Prevention and Support Service • Advice, Information and Mediation service. • Emergency Accommodation Provision (Crashpad) • YP Floating support scheme. • Herts Young Homeless Group (HYHG) awarded contract by competitive tender • HYHG working with commissioners and stakeholders to bring about new improved level of service from 1 July 2008
What else ? • Supported accommodation in Gosforth Lane in Three Rivers, will open by 1 July 2008. • CSF developing new Supported Lodgings Scheme • Commissioning additional provision for Care Leavers • Revision of Joint Housing Protocol (JHP) to bring in line with the Common Assessment process • Development of multi agency training events for JHP • Homeless Prevention Training and Education Project in 3 Districts -Watford, North Herts and St Albans
Final Steps Putting new partnership arrangements in place Ensuring the Local Area Agreement is delivered To reduce the number of young people aged 16-25 who leave Supporting People (SP) funded accommodation schemes in an unplanned way from 92 (39%) to 62 (26%) by 2009 Target is 20.1% at Jan 2008 Evaluation of the AYSP project outcomes Finding a site for East Herts !
