  1. Launch Meeting Cambodian And Laos Initiatives for human Resource on Environment Environmental Education at RUPP By Ms. Va Dany Head of Department of Environmental Science,Royal University of Phnom Penh May 8-9, 2008 Goldiana Hotel, Phnom Penh Cambodia

Background • From 1997 – 98: We had introduced basic environmental science to every department of RUPP, • Late of 1999: we formed a unit to develop an undergraduate curriculum in environmental science, • 2000: We started to offer the undergraduate program in environmental science, • 2001: We received the Ministerial Deceleration no. 296 G>y>k>Rbkto officially establish the department of environment.

  3. Program and Enrollment • A 4 years program • Once a year (Max. 50 students) • Enrollment period: July – August • Commencement date: Late September

  4. Curriculum • 2000-2006: Multi disciplinary program • 2006/07 – present: • Natural resources management (NRM) and • Pollution and urban environmental studies (PUES) • Rotate every 2 to 3 years.

  6. Where we are now after almost 10 years? • Staff capacity building, • Streamlined curriculum, • Study materials developed, • Networks.

  7. Challenges • Human resource development and management, • Implementation of both programs simultaneously, • Regularly update the curriculum, • Regularly update the manuals, • Development of lab facility and man power, • Job market for graduates and future demands, • Research, • Outreach.

  8. CALIBRE will play key roles in • Human resource development • Development of lab facility and man power, • Research competence, • Outreach?. So, the project helps achieving DES missions
